Own an individual title

For the collection you want to keep and return to.

  • A PDF of your selected title
  • Online play for that owned title
  • A title purchase, not a subscription

Explore with a subscription

For more variety across a broader online puzzle catalog.

  • Online catalog access while subscribed
  • Printing of individual puzzles
  • Not a bundle of full-book PDFs

These describe planned options, not active entitlements. Paid offers are being prepared; no purchase is available here yet.

Your account, when you need it.

A few useful answers

Before you begin.

Do I need an account to play a free sample?

No. The selected sample puzzles can be played without signing up or paying. They are individual samples, not complete books.

Does creating an account start a subscription?

No. Your account is free to create. Signing in does not buy a title, create a subscription or grant paid collection access. You do not need a ChatGPT account to use Smirkback’s account page.

What’s the difference between a title and a subscription?

The planned individual-title option combines a title PDF with online play for that owned title. The planned subscription is broader online catalog access with individual-puzzle printing, not a full-book PDF bundle. Neither option is open for purchase yet; prices are not final.

Are the Case Files stories fictional?

Case Files focuses on source-based historical cases. It is separate from the cozy themes in Bookshop Evenings and Windowlight & Tea. Start at the Case Files collection to choose a case.
